Discernment Over Desire: Guarding Your Life, Values, and Purpose

Written by Prof. Mannixs E. Paul, PhD, FCFIP, FCIML, FCECFI, FFAR

Exercise wisdom in whom you trust. Not every friendly gesture is genuine, and not every promise is made with pure intentions. Life often reveals truth quietly—through discernment, reflection, and that inner prompting many choose to ignore. Learn to pay attention. Do not trade your conscience for acceptance, influence, or material gain. Such rewards are temporary, but the consequences of misplaced trust can be permanent.
You have only one life, and it is far more valuable than the false sense of safety offered by shallow alliances. Scripture reminds us that it is better to be alive and humble than proud and destroyed. Ambition driven by ego, pride, or the need to impress can push people into irreversible decisions. History is filled with names of those who ignored caution, trusted unquestioningly, and paid a heavy price.
Let wisdom guide your steps. Distance yourself from situations that trouble your spirit, even when others see no danger. Standing alone in truth is far better than standing in a crowd built on deception. Do not allow titles, charisma, or flattering words to cloud your judgment. Treachery rarely announces itself; it often arrives wearing the face of affection. The kiss of Judas remains a timeless warning.
Make discretion your defense and character your compass. Remain grounded in who you are and what you represent. May the Almighty God grant you the grace to align your ambitions with His divine purpose, preserving you from destructive choices, painful consequences, and the empty pursuit of glory that ends in regret. May your path be guided by wisdom, restraint, and truth.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
