A Call to Conscience and Courage

Written by Prof. Mannixs E. Paul, PhD, FCFIP, FCIML, FCECFI, FFAR Witnessing the destructive impact of selfishness and a lack of genuine patriotism on our society is truly disheartening. Far too often, we find ourselves at odds, driven by personal gain and losing sight of the common good. This leaves us vulnerable to external threats and paves the way for internal decay. We cannot afford to wait passively, as if our fate is sealed. Such inaction is nothing but a disguised surrender. Worse, corruption has silenced or swayed many who should lead with wisdom and courage. Those meant to guide now look away. Fear has crept in from all sides. People feel helpless and unsure where to turn and who still stands for the truth. But we must remember that the truth is not a concept to be debated; it is a principle to be upheld. We must stand up for the truth, no matter the cost. Yet, all hope is not lost. Change is possible, and it starts with each of us. Our individual actions, no matter how small, have the power to make a significant difference. We must remember that nations are not built by systems alone—they are built by people—people like you and me, who still believe in something greater than ourselves. Each of us has a role in choosing a different path—a path where integrity matters, unity is our strength, and we care enough to stand up, speak out, and do what is right—not just for ourselves but for future generations. God help us, yes—but may we also rise to help ourselves. May we find the strength to rebuild what has been broken, starting from within. Let this be our call to action, our motivation to strive for a better society.
